Becoming A Contagious Christian: Session 4

Session 4: Telling Your Story

We spent much of Session 4 reflecting on and refining our own testimonies of how we came to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. While our personal stories are no replacement for the gospel, it is important that we are ready to share how we personally walked our journey of faith so that our friends and families may be encouraged as God opens their hearts to want to learn more about Him.

Here's a brief wrap up of what we learned:

Using Paul's personal testimony to King Agrippa in Acts 26, your story can be organized into three parts:
- Before Christ
- Met Christ
- After Christ

In turning his testimony into an opportunity for evangelism, Paul poses a concluding question that required a response from the listener. This allows us to open a dialogue to hear the reaction/thoughts of our friends to our testimony.

Six Questions to Develop Your Story:
1. What was your early spiritual background, and how did it affect you as your grew up - your feelings, attitudes, actions, and relationships?

2. What caused you to begin consider following Christ?

3. What realization did you come to that finally motivated you to receive Christ?

4. Specifically, how did you receive Christ?

5. How did God change your life after you trusted in Christ?

6. What other benefits have you experiences since becoming a Christian?

Remember: At the end of your testimony, create a concluding question to elicit a response from your friend!

Homework Assignment: SHARE YOUR STORY with someone this week! Even if you don't get the opportunity to share it with a non-Christian, ask a friend/spouse to listen and help you practice!
